Ian Stinton started Cognitive Network Solutions Ltd providing data protection solutions in 1995.

Cognitive Network Solutions Ltd were previously the software division of the ITE Group (Planet Online / Freeserve). During the latter part of 1995 the management team successfully lead a management buy out of ITE Solutions from the ITE Group as the ITE Group wished to concentrate its efforts on their Freeserve Internet business activities. The formation of Cognitive Network Solutions Ltd and the purchase of all ongoing business and all assets of ITE Solutions was achieved through the buyout. Solutions is the trading name of Cognitive Network Solutions Ltd.

The ethos of the company is to provide data protection and management solutions to key customers with services and applicable hardware and software. To these ends we have provided services to many leading UK companies to assist them in the selection of storage hardware and software vendors. Ian Stinton has spoken at a number of Storage events throughout Europe on SAN’s, Data Life Cycle Management, Disaster Recovery and High Speed Backup and Restore. 

Solutions are one of only a selected few companies who have achieved VERITAS Elite Partner status in the UK and as a result are able to supply the entire VERITAS Software product portfolio. Solutions now purchase in excess of £1m of product from VERITAS per annum. 

Solutions also provide hardware from many leading storage hardware vendors including StorageTek, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Overland, Quantum, Network Appliance and EMC.
